2015-16 Youth Theme

Lead me to the Rock...is the youth theme for the 2015-2016 programming year!

Theme Bible Verse: Our scripture Reference is from Psalms 61:2 "When my heart is overwhelmed...lead me to the rock that is higher than I"

Why a "Rock" Theme?  As we continue to grow the ministry for our 6-12 grade students, we are adding different components to our youth ministry. This year we are introducing "Milestone Ministries"...an opportunity to celebrate the rites of passage in young people's lives. These mileSTONE events include things we have already been doing like First Communion, Confirmation and Graduation as well as new celebrations, like getting your driver's license.

Also, in 2016 Peace will be celebrating its 125th Anniversary, and the theme for this celebration year is "Built on the Rock". We wanted to continue this 'rock' theme with all that God is doing in and through our youth.

Why Psalm 61:2?  We understand that many teens and families (really all of us) can feel overwhelmed with the hectic nature of our day-to-day lives...Psalm 61 helps us remember to lean on God in times of trouble or confusion. We all need God's Grace! We want to keep pointing to Peace's vision/mission statement: "Touching Lives with the Love and Saving Grace of Jesus"

PREVIOUS YEAR THEMES:

For the Summer of 2015:

2014 - 2015 Youth Theme:  Puzzle Pieces: Putting it all Together...

The Theme Bible Verse: Our scripture Reference is from Romans 15:5-7 (focusing especially on verse 6)  "May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God." - Romans 15:5-7

Why Puzzle Pieces?  For 2014-15 we are continuing to "put it all together"...All the different pieces of the ministry that we have been working on are coming together to help us have a bigger picture of what youth ministry here at Peace can and will be. We are excited about all that God is doing in and through our youth.

Why Romans 15:6?  We want the youth theme to reflect the greater vision/mission of Peace Lutheran - "Touching Lives with the Love and Saving Grace of Jesus"

We feel that Romans 15:6 helps us convey that when we "put the pieces together" we can unite with one voice to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ!

2013 - 2014 Theme:  "Under Construction"    Because all the youth ministry programs were going through an overhaul due to the arrival of our new youth director, Erika Durheim. We spent the year re-building different ministry groups as well as remodeling the youth building, Peace Place.
